Did you know that some laser treatments are not recommended during the summer months due to our increased exposure to the sun? Many lasers, such as ones for hair removal or IPL for pigment reduction, use a frequency that targets pigmentation like dark spots or dark hair on light skin. The frequency then leaves the area more susceptible to burning or sun damage. This can be extremely unsafe, and our team wants to ensure our clients’ safety first and foremost. That is why, unless you are limiting your exposure, we do not generally do not do those types of procedures during the summer months.
There are still aesthetic treatments that you can do in the summer to help you look and feel your best! Below, our physicians share some treatments that are perfect for July and August!
Botox and fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, are great to do in the summer because there is no issue with sensitivity to light. Another bonus in the effect of fillers is instantaneous so you will walk out of the clinic with results! Botox or other wrinkle relaxing injections can take up to two weeks to take affect however that is still very quick in terms of aesthetic medicine. These are great for a super quick fix with significant, natural looking results.
Because this laser targets fat deep under the dermal layer and not pigmentation, it is safe to do during the summer months. White Rock Skin & Laser uses the Sculpsure body contouring laser for its equivalent results to CoolSculpting with a lower risk of side effects. If you have been working out and eating well but still have stubborn pockets of fat that you just can’t seem to shed, Sculpsure can help! Talk to our team about whether Sculpsure is right for you.
V2 Beauty Booster
The V2 Beauty Booster is a more recent addition to the White Rock Skin & Laser treatment lineup. We love the results this procedure delivers with it's combination of hyaluronic acid infusion and microneedling on the skin. Boost the production of collagen and elastin while also giving the skin a plumper, more youthful appearance this summer.
PRP for Hair Restoration or Skin Rejuvenation
PRP uses the power of your plasma to stimulate cell growth, be it in the scalp for hair restoration or in the skin, for rejuvenation.
For treatment of the skin, the physicians use the specialized U225 PRP gun which combines the benefit of microneedling with the benefit of PRP. Tiny microinjuries are caused in the skin with the hundred of tiny injection sites to deliver the PRP. The body heals theses injuries by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin which leave you with firmer, more beautiful skin. PRP helps with the production as well, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks and improving skin texture overall. Completely safe to do in the summer!
As with PRP for skin rejuvenation, microneedling using the Health Canada approved SkinPen is a safe summer procedure that improves the quality of your skin! Because you are not exposed to light and are using a physical mechanism of injuries (the needles), you can have this performed in the summer without worry. Improve the texture and quality of your skin and even reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring and stretchmarks. Most patients find this procedure easily tolerable with numbing cream.
No matter the treatment, we advocate for proper sun protection all year. Talk to our team about what treatment is best to help you achieve your goals and what you can do at home with proper skin care to maintain and protect beautiful skin.
