Microneedling works by creating thousands of micro-injuries to the skin; tiny little channels that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. This leads to healthier, more youthful looking skin. Prior to treatment you will sit down with one of our Skin Care Consultants to determine if this is the procedure best suited for you. (It is not recommended for those with active acne or rosacea.) Our team will develop an at-home skin care routine for daily use to continue to improve skin health and appearance. Topical numbing cream is applied to the entire treatment area to ensure a comfortable treatment. The SkinPen is then used over the treatment area in one to three passes. Treatments generally last forty-five minutes and are done every four weeks for the first three to six treatments, with maintenance treatments every nine months following.
Microneedling is best in combination with other therapies, including proper at home skin care. The most popular is the PRP treatment that can be applied post microneedling. This was made famous by celebrities such as Kim K. and gives beautiful results. Applying the plasma to the skin topically helps speed healing and increase the production of collagen.
