Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)

Botox works by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the nerve endings, temporarily turning off the stimulation of the sweat gland. It can lead to a significant decrease in perspiration. As your body metabolizes the Botox, your sweating will eventually return to normal, usually in about 6-12 months.

Some extended health care plans may cover the cost of Botox Therapeutic for Hyperhidrosis however almost no family physicians do the injections under BC MSP. Our clinic charges an injection fee (which also may be covered under some extended health plans) and appointments can usually be made within the same week for treatment.
